Starting in June, heavy rains and flooding have been reported in areas in northern, north-eastern and southern Brazil. More than 355,000 people were affected by floods after several days of heavy rains in the northern state of Roraima in June. In the north-eastern states of Pernambuco and Para?ba 13,000 people were evacuated after rains that caused landslides and overflowing of rivers in July. In the South, 51,000 have been affected by rains in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
