According to the Meteorology Service, the highlands areas of the Department of Puno are being affected by extreme low temperatures that have reached -16.4?C. The intense snowfalls have caused severe damages with at least 1,200 families isolated and several houses collapsed. Access to the area is impossible and support has been requested to the regional and national levels in terms of provision of airlifts to deliver humanitarian assistance to affected population.
