FR-2021-000169-SLE Fire Sierra Leone On 05th November 2021, a fire incident occurred in the Wellington PMD Junction east of Freetown involving a loaded fuel tanker that colluded with and a truck carrying granite stones while the fuel tanker was about entering into a nearby filling station to discharge its fuel . This led to fuel spillage which population rushed to collect. In the interim, some community members rushed to the scene and took advantage of the leakage to scoop fuel and store it in nearby makeshift structures. In the cause of scooping the fuel, for unidentified reasons, a fire broke out and the tanker exploded, killing nearly a hundred people. 
DR-2021-000168-ZWE Drought Zimbabwe Zimbabwe is currently experiencing some lean season food insecurity and deteriorating nutrition in some parts of the country’s low-lying areas. The situation has further been exacerbated by the current devaluation of the local currency, Covid 19 pandemic and poor harvests recorded in some parts of the country this past agricultural season. Crisis (IPC Phase 3) outcomes are expected to prevail in the Southern, Western, and extreme northern areas as the 2012/22 lean season continues through November 2021 to March 2022 (FEWSNET, October to May 2022 Outlook).  
OT-2021-000167-POL Other Poland On 31 August 2021 the Council of Ministers requested President Andrzej Duda to declare a state of emergency in the terrain surrounding Belarus–Poland border. The request was motivated by - according to government - possible threats to security and public order in part of the territory of Poland. On 2 September 2021, President Andrzej Duda agreed to declare a state of emergency in the area indicated in the request. 
FL-2021-000166-VNM Flood Viet Nam Quang Ngai evacuated thousands of people to shelters from floods. Floodwaters rose rapidly on rivers, so Quang Ngai organized the evacuation of thousands of people in low-lying areas to safety. 
FL-2021-000165-KHM Flood Cambodia Since 1 September, Cambodia has experienced heavy rainfall across much of the country. As of 29 September, about 19,193 households in 3 provinces are reported to be affected by flash floods. In these areas, houses, infrastructure (roads, schools, health centres) and agricultural land have been inundated.  
FL-2021-000164-COD Flood Congo Democratic Republic In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, more than 285,060 were affected by extensive floods, displacing 44,000 people, while killing 20 people, and destroying 44,096 houses.  
VO-2021-000163-JPN Volcano Japan An eruption was observed Wednesday at Mt. Aso in southwestern Japan, the weather agency said. The eruption occurred at 11:43 a.m. at the No. 1 Nakadake crater, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. Mt. Aso's volcanic alert level was raised to 3 on a scale of 5, with people urged not to approach the mountain. 
CE-2021-000162-SOM Complex Emergency Somalia The displacement started on 2 and 3 October, when hundreds of families were arrested and forcefully displaced from Laas Cannood, Sool Region of Somaliland. Most of the people are originally from Southwest (SWS) and Hirshabelle states, Banadir and a few from Ethiopia. According to the Puntland Ministry of Interior (MoI), more than 2,800 people arrived in Galkacyo and Harfo in the Mudug district between 3 and 5 October 2021. According to the latest update from UNOCHA dated from 14th October 2021, more that 7,250 people have been forcibly displaced from Laas Caanood and surrounding areas, and the number is increasing daily. 
FL-2021-000161-IND Flood India Six people have died after heavy rain triggered landslides in parts of Kerala. The IMD, meanwhile, had sounded a 'Red Alert' for at least five districts in light of the situation. 
EP-2021-000160-PAK Epidemic Pakistan Dengue fever is a year-round and nationwide risk in Pakistan. National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad reported in April 2021 that 22,938 dengue fever cases were reported in Pakistan in 2017, more than 3,200 in 2018, almost 24,547 in 2019, and 3,442 cases in 2020. 2021 also sees a rise in the cases specially in the twin cities, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. 
DR-2021-000159-SYR Drought Syrian Arab Rep Since January 2021, Syria has witnessed unprecedented low water levels of the Euphrates River, falling from 500m3 to 214 m3 in June, resulting in two of the most significant reservoirs in Syria having being significantly diminished and 54 out of 73 water stations severely impacted (OCHA, 2021)1 in Aleppo, Deir-ez-Zor, Al-Hasakeh and Ar-Raqqa governorates. Low levels of water in reservoirs resulted in reduced energy production capacity causing power black outs across the north-eastern Syria, with only 1-2 hours of electricity in some locations and up to three million people have been affected by reduced electricity generation and availability. Compounded by ongoing fuel shortages, water pumping stations have limited functionality, affecting safe access to and availability of drinking water of the population in north-eastern Syria.  
FL-2021-000158-PHL Flood Philippines A tropical storm has set off landslides and flash floods as it barreled over the tip of the northern Philippines, leaving at least 11 people dead and seven missing. 
EP-2021-000157-COD Epidemic Congo Democratic Republic On 8 October 2021, the Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) announced that a new laboratory confirmed case of Ebola virus disease (EVD) had been detected in Butsili Health Area, Beni Health Zone in North Kivu Province. Earlier this year, an EVD outbreak affected North Kivu Province which was declared over on 3 May 2021. 
EQ-2021-000156-PAK Earthquake Pakistan More than 20 people, mostly children, died and above 300 hundred injured on October 7, when an earthquake hit Hernai district in Balochistan. The earthquake was of 5.9 M with the depth of 9km, followed by an aftershock of 4.9 M with a depth of 12km, according to USGS. 
TC-2021-000155-VNM Tropical Cyclone Viet Nam The central region is forecast to experience a spell of heavy rain and flooding over the coming days as a tropical depression entering the East Sea is likely to strengthen into a storm. 
WF-2021-000154-HND Wild fire Honduras A wildfire event occurred on 2-3 October in Guanaja Island (Islas de la Bahía Department, Honduras) leading to casualties and damage. Media report, four injured people, 62 displaced citizens, while about 2,500 individuals (approximately 62% of the island’s population) have been affected by the wildfire event, according to UN OCHA. In addition, more than 220 houses have been destroyed or damaged. A state of emergency and calamity has been declared for Guanaja, while national authorities are assisting the affected population with aid and relief items. 
FL-2021-000153-UGA Flood Uganda Since the beginning of September 2021, many parts of Uganda have been receiving torrential rains which have affected many districts country wide. To date, the prolonged rain events have persisted, and 17 districts have been affected including Kasese, Oyam, Koboko, Yumbe, Katakwi, Bukedea, Kapchorwa, Sironko, Arua, Mbale, Kakumuro, Kibaale, Ibanda, Apac, Kabaale, Zombo and Kapelebyong.  
FL-2021-000152-GEO Flood Georgia Through September 22-24, 2021, heavy rain seriously affected five municipalities in western part of Georgia -Autonomies Republic of Adjara and Guria Region. The total population in five affected municipalities stands at 195193 thousand, of which 1780 people were heavily affected. Through September 22-24, local authorities of the affected municipalities officially approached the Georgia Red Cross Society (GRCS) with the kind request to support the affected population, in total 1780 people/445 households with the basic food and non-food items.

FL-2021-000147-THA Flood Thailand Since 23 September, flooding caused by heavy rain has been affecting 30 Provinces of Thailand, resulting in casualties.  
VO-2021-000146-ESP Volcano Spain GDACS - Medium humanitarian impact: The eruption started on 19 September 2021. According to the ECHO daily flash as of 28 September 2021, The explosive and effusive activity of Cumbre la Vieja is ongoing and two lava flows are moving towards the western coast. The northern lava flow, located 800-1,000 m from the coast of Tazacorte, is the most active while the southern lava flow is slowing down. According to the Government of Canarias, 300 people living in the coastal areas of San Borondón, Marina Alta, Marina Baja and La Condesa (Tazacorte Municipality) have been evacuated. In addition, 200 people returned to their homes, while 5,600 are still evacuated. A 2.5 km exclusion radius around emission centres is recommended to minimize the risk of pyroclastic impact and exposure to gases; in areas affected by intense ash fall, it is recommended to stay indoors. The General Directorate of the Merchant Navy modified the no-navigation zone one mile further north considering the increased possibility that the lava flow could reach the coast. 
FL-2021-000145-BEN Flood Benin On Monday, September 06, 2021, seven municipalities located on the coasts of the Mono, Ouémé, and Niger rivers in Benin experienced a peak in the overflow of the river following the heavy rains that have intensified over the past two weeks in the country and the release of water at the Nagbéto dam. This situation has caused a great deal of flooding in the communes of Karimama, Malanville, Zangnanado, Zogbodomey, Ouinhi, Aguégués, Dangbo, Athiémé, Grand-Popo, and Zè, several of whose localities are currently under water. This has placed these localities on red alert.
