On 4 August 2005, due to heavy rainfalls, two rivers that flow across the city of Kumanovo have flooded the area. The most affected settlements are Sredorek and Bavci, which are mainly inhabited by Roma population. According to a first assessment done by the municipal authorities, approximately 2,000 people have been affected.
