Comments: On the 22 July at 3.44 in the morning, an earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit Rasht valley in Rasht district. Preliminary information was received from the Committee of Emergency Situations (CoES) of Tajikistan, Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan (RCST) branch of Rasht district and Rapid Emergency Assessment and Coordination Team (REACT) members working in Rasht valley. The information states that a number of persons were killed and several were injured, 170 houses were totally destroyed and more than 1,000 houses were partly damaged. In total it can be estimated that around 7,000 people have been affected.
