A heavy downpour that started about 5 a.m. on the early hours of Sunday, 10th July, 2011 in Nigeria and lasted for about 17 hours led to massive flooding mostly of the entire Lagos metropolis, economical capital of country. This led to displacement of people from their homes, serious traffic congestion on roads, destruction of property, and worse, people were reportedly killed in the incidence. Thousands of persons were affected by the floods with many rendered homeless as their houses were submerged by flood water while properties including vehicles were washed due to the intensity of the flood.
