A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck south of the port city of Bushehr in south-western Iran on 9 Apr 2013. Regional authorities said at least 30 people had been killed and as many as 800 injured. Some 10,000 people are thought to live in the affected area in more than 50 villages, two of which have reportedly been completely leveled. Bushehr's governor said 700 houses had been damaged and 200 families affected.
