Tropical storm Dianmu formed in the South China Sea on 17 August and passed through Lao PDR around 2 days later, causing additional heavy rain which has been occurring since 11 August. Currently several districts in Luangprabang, Houaphan and Xaingabouli are affected, as indicated below.
