On 24 April 2003 at 0900hr, an eight-storey building collapsed in Savar, north of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. At 2100hr, a total of 102 dead bodies have been recovered from the scene, while the number of peoiple still trapped inside the rubble is unknown. Some 1,000 injured people have been safely rescued and provided with immediate basic first aid or transferred to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
