TC-2022-000360-USA Tropical Cyclone United States Tropical Storm Nicole Sweeps Across Florida, making landfall as a rare November hurricane, causing flooding and destructive coastal erosion. TC-2022-000357-BLZ Tropical Cyclone Belize On 2nd November 2022, hurricane Lisa made landfall just south of Belize City as a category 1 storm. The NEMO estimated close to 39 percent affectation rate of the country's population i.e. approximately 172,000 persons. The storm has resulted in the temporary displacement of a large number of persons, with an estimated 5K+ seeking refuge in state managed shelters across the country of Belize. The ISA reports damages primarily to the housing sector which is reflective of the poor housing stock associated with the areas of affectation. An estimated 500 houses have been reported as being completely destroyed, with an additional 5,000 homes suffering from light, medium and heavy damages. The NEMO reports initial damage estimates to the housing sector as being approximately USD$10M with most of this damage recorded within the Belize District.

Some coastal areas were flooded due to storm surge in areas of Bagerhat, Bhola, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Barisal and Chittagong Districts. GDACS / HWRF reported storm surge of 1 to 1.5 metres. Bangladesh Red Crescent said rain and thundershowers swept over the other parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka. UNOCHA said more than 219,000 people evacuated to temporary storm shelters. According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR) of the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), 10,000 houses and 6,000 hectares of crops were damaged. Another 1,000 fish enclosures were destroyed. At least 35 people died (according to media reports). Need Assessment Working Group (NAWG) reported 1.5 million people affected, mostly in Bhola, Bagerhat, Barguna, Cox's Bazar, Khulna, Patuakhali districts. Note: Media reported most fatalities and much of the damage was a result of wind damage. however, official data didn't differentiate between wind or flood damage. Many of the fatalities were a result of flooding and landslides in southern areas, in particular Maguindanao del Norte province in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Mindanao (BARMM) where fatalities were reported in Datu Blah Sinsuat, Upi and Datu Odin Sinsuat. DR-2022-000344-PNG Drought Papua New Guinea The National Weather Service had advised that the current drought conditions in much of the country were expected to continue until the end of September or early October. Provinces at severe drought risk include Bougainville, Central, East New Britain, East Sepik, Enga, Jiwaka, Madang, Morobe, National Capital District, Western Highlands, West New Britain, and West Sepik. As the country approaches the wet season at the end of the year, much of the country is expected to receive above-average rainfall influenced by a La Niña event. However, the New Guinea Islands region tends to be drier during La Niña events and so chances of drought continuing in New Britain, New Ireland, Manus, and Bougainville is relatively high.
