Early August, heavy rains hit Laos countrywide followed by a tropical storm that caused widespread Floods in North, Central, and South of Laos. The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare released an official report on 15 August 2022 that 08 provinces (Huaphan, Xayabouly, Borkeo, Luangprabang, Vientiane Capital, Salavan, Savanakhet, and Champasak) were affected. The rainfall brought widespread flooding and landslides causing roads to become impassable, water and electricity supplies have been cut and many residents evacuated. In Xayaboury, Houng River overflowed, swamping riverside villages and partially submerging houses. People who have been forced to leave their homes now need clothing, food and drinking water amongst other needs described in the needs assessments, while authorities are assessing the extent of the flooding and collecting information about the number of people affected.

Between May and July 2022, the period of the
national general election, violence has escalated
in parts of the Highlands region. The presence
of security personnel in the conflict-affected
areas is limited, tensions remain high, and
outbreaks of new violence could continue at
least through the end of the August during the
period for challenging election results. While in
most areas, the violence is directly related to the
election, in some places it has resurfaced from
long-standing issues, including land disputes,
retribution, and unsettled disputes between
clans, who are using the instability around
elections to re-ignite fights.
The areas believed to have the greatest
humanitarian needs are Porgera, Laiagam, and
Kompiam districts in Enga province; Magarima
district in Hela province; and Nipa district in
Southern Highlands province.
Officials and partners have reported killings,
including of women and children; sexual
violence against women and girls; sorcery
accusation-related violence against women;
destruction of homes, schools, churches,
hospitals, businesses, and agricultural
warehouses; and violence and destruction of
homes and properties of communities and
churches hosting displaced persons.

From 5 to 7 August 2022, the cities of Dakar, Thies and Matam recorded very heavy rainfall totalling almost 500 mm for the three regions concerned (Dakar, Thies and Matam), according to weather data. According to information from the volunteers' assessments, this situation caused a great deal of damage in the areas mentioned, resulting in the destruction of 170 homes and the displacement of more than 1,300 families who were housed in schools or hosted by neighbors in very difficult living conditions. 317 families have not been rehoused and are still living in their homes affected by the floods. Moreover, the weather forecast does not encourage the efforts that are being made by the various actors. Indeed, according to the weather forecast, people should expect more rainfall as the winter season is only just beginning. |

The Southwest monsoon activation has been intensifying rainfall in Sri Lanka from 1 to 8 August 2022 where the Northern, Central, Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces of Sri Lanka have been affected. According to the Department of Meteorology, massive rainfall of 243mm was reported in the Northern sub district, the Nuwara Eliya, Nawalapitiya and Delthota sub districts in the Kandy district (Central Province) where several landslides and rock falls damaged houses and blocked roads and railway line. Rainfall over 100 millimeters was observed in the Rathnapura district (Sabaragamuwa province), and in the districts of Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya (Central Province). In total, five deaths were reported while three people have been missing and rescue teams are working around the clock despite heavy rains to recover the missing bodies.
The continuous heavy rains coupled with high winds over 50 km/p have caused landslides, road embankment failures/ cutting failures, floods, rock fall and fallen trees across the districts of Nuwara Eliya, Kandy and Matale (Central Province), GalleHambantota and Matara districts (Southern Province), Rathnapura and Kegalle districts (Sabaragamuwa Province), and Gampaha district (Western Province). Due to the severity of the situation, agricultural lands and standing crops were also damaged in low lying areas due to flooding while infrastructure and housing damages have also been reported. |

The sudden and heavy rains have been pouring since the early June until the date in different regions of the country. The rainfall precipitation average is 46-60 mm and differs depending on the region and continued nearly 4 - 6 hours. According to the 286th resolution of the Mongolian Government, if the precipitation is more than 30 mm and continues for more than 3 hours, it falls under the category of the disastrous phenomenon. As a result of the sudden and heavy rains, there have been many cases of flash floods in the country in both urban and remote settlements.
The flash flood impacts include the damage to the infrastructure including the railway, road, bridge, and at the household level damage, livestock mortality, complete destruction to gers, fences, water barricades. The major flash floods occurred on 19 and 24 July and according to the primary data collected from MRCS local branches, 1,186 households or approximately over 4,269 people have been severely affected |

Since 20thJune 2022, abundant rains are being recorded over localized areas in southern Nigeria, with total amount of rains exceeding 100mm. Floods have also started to be recorded in some parts of the area at risk, mainly in Northern localities and urban areas since end of June 2022. Currently, more flash floods are recorded and general alerts are for the moment in yellow alert with a close monitoring of meteorological expert issuing frequent alerts since July. For next few weeks, heavy and enhanced rain is forecast over the majority of West Africa. More than 2000mm of rainfalls are projected in areas of southern Nigeria and 390mm projected in the Northern Part of the country from the week of 20th June and beyond. This trend follows the same path of previous years, which led to important flooding affecting almost 20 states in the country with more than 10,000 households randomly affected in various way, with always at least 3,000 households homeless and/or displaced. GDACS and IFRC risk watch as well as NiMET forecast are issuing alerts and forecasts from June with an projected worsening of the situation in August with intensification of floods and strong winds, storm, rivers etc high incidence on displacement, agriculture, households relief, markets etc. |

Heavy rains have been lashing multiple areas of the country since the start of the week of 11 July. According to authorities, the downpour has wreaked havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan and parts of Sindh where the local administration has geared up to deal with the emergency. According to the Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), at least 26 people were killed in rain-related incidents in Sindh after monsoon showers battered Karachi and other parts of the province. Furthermore, the latest reports highlighted that the flood caused most of the damage in Balochistan and KP. As per NDMA reports (Sit-rep 17 July 2022), the monsoon rains across the country began on June 14 and have claimed 238 lives so far of which 122 were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. |

Flood,Nepal: GLOF (Glacial lake outburst flood): After an avalanche fell in Birendra Lake in the Manaslu area of Gorkha, the water flowing from there took the form of a flood.

Flood,China, People's Republic: Four people were killed and 10 others remain missing after continuous heavy rainfall hit many parts of Guangdong Province in south China since 18 April 2024, local authorities said on 22 April 2024. The recent heavy rainfall has affected many cities including Shaoguan, Guangzhou, Heyuan, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Meizhou and Huizhou, resulting in damaged houses, blocked roads and landslides. Guangdong has so far relocated some 110,000 residents.

Volcano,Indonesia: Ruang volcano, located on Ruang Island (part of Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi Province), increased its volcanic activity on 16-17 April with explosions and emission of volcanic ash and lava. The worst hit areas are Pumpente Village and Pathology Village in Tagulandang District (Sitaro Islands Regency, North Sulawesi Province).
According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), 828 people have been displaced, of whom 45 are in one evacuation centre and 783 are in the homes of relatives.
National and local authorities are providing assistance for those affected and established an Emergency Response Status for 14 days starting from April 16.
The level of the volcano has been raised from II to III, people cannot enter in the area radius of 4 km from the centre of the active crater.

Flash Flood,Afghanistan: Since early April 2024, Afghanistan has been experiencing heavy rainfall which has caused flash floods in at least eight provinces: Badghis, Helmand, Herat, Kabul, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Parwan, and Urozgan. According to reports from Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) branches, the flooding has led to the loss of at least 24 lives, left dozens of people injured, damaged more than 1,000 houses, washed away over 25,000 acres of crops and agricultural land, and killed at least 220 livestock.
The province of Urozgan is most impacted, with 2,119 families affected in 5 districts (70 in Chinarto, 300 in Chora, 624 in Dehrawood, 350 in Gaizaab, and 775 in Tirinkot). According to initial reports, 11 people have lost their lives, 5 people have been injured, and 3 people are missing in the province.
