VW-2022-000214-SOM Violent Wind Somalia This is following sudden heavy rains and windstorms which struck North Gaalkacyo on 10th May, impacting the city of Gaalkacyo and its surrounding areas, which host the camps. The most affected people by this disaster are approximately 4,416 internally displaced people (736 HH) people living in 18 of the 20 recorded camps. 
FL-2022-000213-IND Flood India Heavy rainfall has been affecting northeastern India (in particular Arunchal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya States) since 13 May 2022, triggering landslides and causing river overflow and floods that have resulted in casualties and damage. Media report, as of 16 May, seven fatalities, of which one in Itanagar City (southern Arunchal Pradesh), due to a landslide, three in the Dima Hasao District (central Assam) also in this case due to a landslide, and three more across central Meghalaya (two in East Khasi Hills District and one Ri-Bhoi District) due to floods. 
LS-2022-000212-COD Land Slide Congo Democratic Republic A landslide occurred in Kadutu commune of Bukavu, capital of South Kivu Province, in eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) on 25 April. At least 8 people died and 9 were seriously injured. Since then the rain has continued, affecting Maniema, North Kivu and South Kivu provinces. 
EP-2022-000211-TZA Epidemic Tanzania On 23rd April 2022, the government reported cholera cases in Uvinza DC (Kigoma region) and Tanganyika DC (Katavi region). These cases were reported in Kalya ward in Uvinza DC which has a population of 22,486 (Kigoma region) and Karema and Ikola wards with a population of 15,982) Tanganyika district, Katavi region).  
DR-2022-000210-NER Drought Niger According to the National Food Crisis Prevention and Management Mechanism, the 2021 agricultural season was marked by pests in crops, delays in planning and above average rainfall in the end of August and September. As a result, the food production was below average bringing the Niger population and risk of food insecurity. Following the results of the harmonised framework of March 2022, more than 3 million people are already facing food insecurity (fase 3). The projections predict a total of 4,402,406 persons to be directly affected. 
FF-2022-000209-AFG Flash Flood Afghanistan Heavy and unseasonal rainfall across large parts of Afghanistan on Tuesday, 3 May has caused flash flooding directly affecting over 485 families (approximately 3,400 people) in Badakhshan, Badghis, Baghlan, Bamyan, Faryab, Hirat, Jawzjan, Kunar, Kunduz, Samangan and Takhar provinces. The number of affected people is expected to increase as assessments are completed. 
EP-2022-000208-LBR Epidemic Liberia On Thursday 21 April 2022, Liberia's Health Ministry declared measles outbreak which is affecting 14 of the 15 counties in the country. According to the Liberian Government the outbreak is a result of low immunization rates, due to disruption of immunization activities for COVID19 and people's misconception on immunizations.  
FL-2022-000207-VEN Flood Venezuela Since 25 April, floods and river overflow caused by heavy rainfall has been affecting parts of Venezuela, causing significant damage to the communities, as reported by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). At least 32,770 families have been affected, while flood waters have damaged houses, road sections and inundated agriculultural fields across 12 States, including Táchira, Mérida, Trujillo, Zulia, Lara, Falcón, Aragua, Carabobo, Portuguesa, Apure, Vargas and Caracas Capital District.

EP-2022-000205-COD Epidemic Congo Democratic Republic On 23 April, the National Minister of Health of the DRC declared the 14th outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) since 1976 in the Wangata Health Zone, in the city of Mbandaka, Equateur province. 
FL-2022-000204-UZB Flood Uzbekistan At least 4 people died as a result of floods and mudflows in Uzbekistan on 20 to 21 April 2022. Flooding affected the regions of Samarkand, Jizzakh, Navoi (also Navoiy) and Qashqadaryo (also Kashkadarya). Foresh district in Jizzakh was the worst affected with 4 fatalities reported. 
EP-2022-000203-ZMB Epidemic Zambia On 11 April 2022, a cholera outbreak was declared in Zambia with its index case reported in Mtendere compound which has a population of 106,128 within Chelstone Subdistrict and Matero with a population of 356,462, within Lusaka. The index case involved 3-year-old girl who presented with signs and symptoms suggestive of cholera; results later confirmed the presence of vibrio Cholerae in stool. The patient was admitted at Kalingalinga Clinic, a local health facility where she was treated and discharged. By 18 April 2022, the outbreak had spread to other areas within Lusaka with a cumulative total of 16 suspected cases of which 8 were confirmed, distributed as follows: Lusaka Province - 7 (Lusaka District 12; - Mtendere 4, Kabangwe 1, Kamwala 1 and Matero 1), Chilanga District (Midles-west 2, Apolo1, and ZESCO Kalundu 2) Northern Province 5 (Nsama District - Nsumbu 5). These are densely populated areas which lack adequate sanitation and access to clean and safe water, posing a danger for further spread of the epidemic. No fatalities have been reported to date.  
EP-2022-000202-COD Epidemic Congo Democratic Republic Since January, the locality of Ituri is experiencing a resurgence of Plague. On 04 April 2022, the Provincial Health Division (DPS) of Ituri Province officially declared a resurgence of the Bubonic Plague epidemic in the Rethy health zone in Djugu territory. According to the authorities, the history of this disease in the Rethy health zone goes back to more than 9 outbreaks, and the eighth one dates back to January 2022 in the UKETHA health area. On 07/04/2022, the epidemiological situation was as follows: 31 notified cases of which only 15 were tested, 2 deaths and nearly 2,000 contacts listed in the absence of local reactivity. The epicentre of the plague disease is in the Health Areas of Lokpa, Rassia and Uketha, which are home to the 3 confirmed cases and deaths recorded so far. These 3 health areas are located in the Rethy health zone, Djugu territory, in ITURI Province. the cases have been confirmed so far as Bubonic plague. Between 4 and 16 April 2022, 20 more cases were notified by the Lokpa health centre but in the absence of testing.

CE-2022-000200-CPV Complex Emergency Cape Verde he 2021 - 2022 agro-pastoral season was characterised by a late start and early end to the rains throughout the country. Overall, agricultural production varied from low to zero, depending on the agro-climatic strata of the municipalities. This situation led the Government of Cape Verde to declare a national disaster. This is contrary to the forecasts of the Agrhymet Centre, which predicted a season with normal to surplus rainfall overall and a regular to early start for the Sahel region. Given the unfavourable conditions associated with the agro-pastoral agricultural season, some of the country's municipalities are in a situation of acute food insecurity. The results of the Harmonized Framework (March 2022), presented at the Regional Food Crisis Prevention and Management Mechanism (PREGEC) held from 28 to 30 March 2022, show a current situation of food insecurity affecting 29,421 people in the crisis phase (Ph 3), and 1,076 people in the emergency phase (Ph 4), mainly on the island of Santiago (in the municipality of Ribera Grande, which was the only one observed in phase 3), and a projected situation for this year's lean season (June to August 2022) of 46,093 food insecure people (10% of the population) of which 43,003 are in crisis (Ph 3) and 3,090 in emergency (Ph 4). The most affected areas will be 4 municipalités: Porto Novo in Santo Antão, Sao Domingos, Santa Cruz and Ribeira Grande in île de Santiago. 
CE-2022-000199-LKA Complex Emergency Sri Lanka On 01 April 2022, the Government of Sri Lanka declares state of emergency and curfew that gives sweeping powers to security forces to take actions to control the protests, amidst opposition by other coalition parties within the government and Civil Society. But the protests and rallies continued to grow across the country. As a result of the dynamic economic catastrophe in Sri Lanka recently, there are long queues in every part of the country for purchasing essential items such as fuel, cooking gas, medicines, where some people are spending three-four days to get their needs, this affected daily wage labourers who lost their daily income by spending the days in these queues. Four deaths were reported while waiting in these queues for few days. Due to fuel crisis public transportation operation as per the usual schedule has been disrupted, this also affected the income generation of the staff employed in the transportation sector. Suspending routine surgeries was reported of four major hospitals due to shortage of medical supplies, medicines, and 10-13 hours long power cuts.

TC-2022-000197-PHL Tropical Cyclone Philippines Tropical Depression MEGI (named "Agaton" in the Philippines) formed over the western Philippine Sea on 9 April as a tropical low and on 10 April, intensified as a tropical storm approaching Eastern Samar (Eastern Visayas Region, central Philippines). On 11 April at 2.00 UTC, its centre was located offshore over the coastal waters of Tanauan (Leyte Province, Eastern Visayas Region) in the Leyte Gulf with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h (tropical depression). According to the authorities, following the passage of MEGI, one person has died, and another is missing in Davao Region, while two people have been injured in Northern Mindanao. In addition, 15,326 people have been displaced and 136,400 affected across nine Regions. 
FL-2022-000196-COL Flood Colombia Heavy rainfall has been affecting most of Colombia (particularly Andean, and Pacific regions) since the beginning of the "first rainy season" (which lasts from mid-March to June), triggering landslides, causing rivers to overflow and floods that have resulted in casualties and damage. The most affected are central and western Departments: Cundinamarca, Cauca, Antioquia, Huila, Nariño and the Coffee Triangle (Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda, Tolima, and Valle del Cauca). According to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) and WHO/PAHO from 15 March to 3 April, ten fatalities, 14 injured, around 5,500 affected people, 22 destroyed, 736 damaged houses across the aforementioned Departments have been reported, mainly due to landslides, followed by floods.  
CE-2022-000195-UGA Complex Emergency Uganda From 28th to 29th March 2022 there was an important influx of refugees from Republic Democratic of Congo to Uganda through Kisoro after Rebel group M23 attacked areas of Cyanzu, Runyoni and Kinyandoni, about 4km from Bunagana (Uganda border with Congo). The fighting started in the wee hours of the night around 3am according to security officials, and approximately 4500 to 6000 Congolese majority being women and children crossed to Uganda same day when early April UNHCR counted 10,000 people who fled between the 28 and 29th march and 36,000 internally displaced people in DRC. Initially blocked on Bunagana for security reason by the authorities, the DRC refugees mainly coming from Kitsoro boarders were later allowed to cross and as of 06th April 2022, many are camped at the holding and transit centres. umber of arrivals are increasing and the MAM rainy season will worsening the situation.

FR-2022-000191-SOM Fire Somalia A huge fire broke out in the biggest market (Waaheen) of Hargeisa on the evening of 01 April 2022. The fire was so powerful that the Somaliland Fire Protection could only control it 164 hours after, at 12 pm on April 02, with the support of the Ethiopia Somali region fire department. According to the Somaliland fire protection, this was the worst fire ever experienced in decades. Somaliland fire protection authority, together with the local municipality, central government, and the SRCS are currently finalizing the damage assessment caused by this disaster.

Flood,Nepal: GLOF (Glacial lake outburst flood): After an avalanche fell in Birendra Lake in the Manaslu area of Gorkha, the water flowing from there took the form of a flood.

Flood,Somalia: Heavy rainfall has been affecting Somalia since 19 April, causing floods, flash floods and river overflow that resulted in casualties and damage. According to UN OCHA, as of 22 April, four people died, of whom three in Somaliland (northern Somalia) and one in Hirshabelle State (south-central Somalia), 804 people have been displaced, 100 shelters have been destroyed and a school have been damaged across Somalia. Humanitarian partners are stepping up response across the country. For the next 24 hours, more rainfall is expected over north-western and south-western parts of Somalia.

Flood,China, People's Republic: Four people were killed and 10 others remain missing after continuous heavy rainfall hit many parts of Guangdong Province in south China since 18 April 2024, local authorities said on 22 April 2024. The recent heavy rainfall has affected many cities including Shaoguan, Guangzhou, Heyuan, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Meizhou and Huizhou, resulting in damaged houses, blocked roads and landslides. Guangdong has so far relocated some 110,000 residents.

Volcano,Indonesia: Ruang volcano, located on Ruang Island (part of Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi Province), increased its volcanic activity on 16-17 April with explosions and emission of volcanic ash and lava. The worst hit areas are Pumpente Village and Pathology Village in Tagulandang District (Sitaro Islands Regency, North Sulawesi Province). According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), 828 people have been displaced, of whom 45 are in one evacuation centre and 783 are in the homes of relatives. National and local authorities are providing assistance for those affected and established an Emergency Response Status for 14 days starting from April 16. The level of the volcano has been raised from II to III, people cannot enter in the area radius of 4 km from the centre of the active crater.

Flash Flood,Afghanistan: Since early April 2024, Afghanistan has been experiencing heavy rainfall which has caused flash floods in at least eight provinces: Badghis, Helmand, Herat, Kabul, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Parwan, and Urozgan. According to reports from Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) branches, the flooding has led to the loss of at least 24 lives, left dozens of people injured, damaged more than 1,000 houses, washed away over 25,000 acres of crops and agricultural land, and killed at least 220 livestock. The province of Urozgan is most impacted, with 2,119 families affected in 5 districts (70 in Chinarto, 300 in Chora, 624 in Dehrawood, 350 in Gaizaab, and 775 in Tirinkot). According to initial reports, 11 people have lost their lives, 5 people have been injured, and 3 people are missing in the province.
