Since 28 October the Northern regions in the Southern state of Tabasco, Northern Chiapas and Southern Veracruz have received torrential rain due to cold front number four stationed in the Gulf of Mexico and by the effects of Tropical Storm Noel in the Caribbean. There is a total accumulated precipitation of 700 mm and levees water levels are over their capacities causing the Carrizal and Mazcalapa rivers to overflow and flooding the municipalities of Pichucalco and Reforma in the state of Tabasco. Flood waters have reached up to 12 meters high.
MS-2007-000200-MEX Mud Slide,Mexico: A huge wall of mud and water engulfed a remote village in flood-ravaged southern Mexico on Monday and the government said at least 16 people were missing.
Mexican media reported as many as 30 people could be missing in the landslide in southern Chiapas state that buried 100 houses in the village of San Juan Grijalva.
