Comments: Heavy rainfall has been recorded in Peru since January 2017, damaging or destroying the homes of 101,104 people, affecting 643,216 people overall and leaving 78 people dead, 263 injured and 20 missing. The most affected departments are Ancash, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Lima and Piura. Furthermore, in the past few weeks, the amount of rainfall in northern and central Peru has increased significantly, affecting various communities, educational centres, roads, access bridges to main zones and hectares of agriculture. Currently, the government of Peru has declared a state of emergency for 12 departments and a sanitation alert for 7 departments.
