The number of asylum applications in Montenegro has increased from 24 in January 2018 to 470 in April 2018 and 557 in May 2018. The vast majority of the asylum seekers are aiming forward to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. Currently, between 15 and 50 asylum applications are left on a daily basis in Montenegro. The asylum seekers originate primarily from Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Iran. The main entry point is the land border crossing of Bozaj bordering Albania.
