Comments: | On 26 August, the rainfall became more intense for at least 4 consecutive days with many rivers crossing warning levels, causing widespread inundation in many parts of the southern plains as well as reported incidents of landslides in the hilly region. This incessant rainfall affected mostly 11 districts (Myagdi, Rupandehi, Dang, Darchula, Sindhuli, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West, Kanchanpur, Kailali, Udayapur and Mahottari), with 4,899 families affected, including 2,129 of them being temporarily displaced.
According to the weather forecast by the Government of Nepal’s Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is still looming chance of rainfall in the coming 24 hours that might affect the water levels of major rivers of the country such as Koshi and Narayani. |
