Comments: A magnitude 7.8 earthquake has hit southern Turkey and Siria, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said Monday. The quake's depth is 24.1 kilometers (14.9 miles), located 23 kilometers (14.2 miles) east of Nurdagi, Gaziantep province in Turkey, according to the USGS. The death toll, which after two days of rescue efforts stands at more than a thousand people in Syria, has increased rapidly since the first earthquake struck.
