Comments: According to the Iranian Meteorological Organization, heavy rainfalls with thunderstorms started on 01 January 2022 in almost 30most of Iran provinces and that lasted for 4 days. Over 80,000 people were affected in 20 provinces. The worst hit provinces are Sistan Balochistan (south), Hormozgan (east), Kerman and Fars, Bushehr and Khuzestan. IRCS is focusing on 6 worst hit provinces. IFRC DREF support will even cater most vulnerable 4 provinces. Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has supported reached out to 76,429 flood-affected people in 20 provinces/126 counties/62 cities/470 villages/35 nomadic lands/75 mountainous areas so far. Relief consignment including, emergency sheltering, food baskets, rice, canned food, dates, dried bread, sugaritems, blankets and ground mats, plastic sheets, heaters, mineral water sent to affected areas. The National Society’s aid workers have rendered various relief & rescue services to people and households when the rainfall and floods impacted the areas. So far, the Iranian Red Crescent has provided emergency shelter to 19151 people. Transportation routes are still blocked, and the relief items were deployed by the NS air rescue choppers to flood hit cities. IRCS’ rescuers evacuated people to safe areas. Injured people received outpatient services and those in need were transported to medical centers. Heavy flash flood resulted in killing 10 people in Chabahar, Darab, Lamerd, Beyram, Sirjan and Mehrestan counties. Aid workers pumped water out of 570 houses and recovered 290 vehicles. The NS senior management has paid a field visit in the affected areas to assess the situation and speed up the response operation. Worst hit area is south of Ssistan Bbalochistan, operation in south Kkerman completed, operation still on going in eastern Hhormozgan.
