As of 26 September (11:00, UTC+8), the eye of Typhoon Megi (locally known as Helen) was located about 500 km east of the municipality of Basco, Batanes, Philippines with maximum sustained winds up to 150 km/h near the centre and gusts up to 185 km/h. It continues to move towards the Batanes Group of Islands and Taiwan Province of China at 20 km/h.
