Part of Nicoll Highway collapsed onto the MRT Circle Line tunnel construction underneath on Tues, 20th April 2004. The cause of the incident was attributed as incidental. Although most escaped unhurt, there were three casualties and four fatalities. SCDF conducted a rescue operations for 4 days and suspended on the 23rd Apr 2004 when LTA detected stability problems in the structure.
