Comments: On June 26, 2024, torrential rains had aected the departments of Mono, Couo, Zou and Ouémé, in southern Benin, causing the Couo River to overow. This phenomenon had impacted six of the eleven districts of Couo: Adoukandji, Ahomadégbé, Gnizounmè, Tchito, Tohou and Zalli. A rapid assessment carried out on 1 July 2024 by the Beninese Red Cross in collaboration with the Lalo communal council had revealed that 13 villages had been ooded, aecting 3,679 people, destroying 2,482 houses, damaging 3,781 hectares of crops and impacting 4,196 livestock and poultry.
