EP-2022-000162-TMP Epidemic East Timor Timor-Leste has recorded an escalation of dengue fever cases from the start of 2022 with the death toll reaching 20 on 31 January 2022, making it the deadliest year in recent times. In the first week of 2022, there were 288 suspected cases of dengue in seven municipalities. In the second week of 2022, there were 56 additional dengue cases reported across Timor-Leste. Following a growing number of cases, fatality rate from the start of 2022 and considering Timor-Leste Covid-19 pandemic situation, on 15 January 2022 the Government of Timor-Leste released a circular declaring that dengue had become a serious public health concern. By the third week of January, the number of recorded cases across the country had more than doubled and health capacities could not cope with the needs in the field. 
TC-2022-000161-ZWE Tropical Cyclone Zimbabwe On the 23 of Jan 2022, the Meteorological Services department issued an alert of the first Tropical weather system predicted to affect Zimbabwe. The system rapidly developed into a tropical storm coded Ana which then made land fall on Mozambique on 24 Jan by the 25 Jan it had reached Zimbabwe as an overland depression. Moderate to heavy rains with daily maximums of 80mm accompanied by strong winds of up to 80km/hour pounded several communities in the northern and North-eastern boarder of Zimbabwe. In Zimbabwe, the passage of the Tropical Storm Ana weather system caused destruction and damage in at least six provinces, with Manicaland Province hardest hit. At least 3,000 people have been affected by heavy rains and flooding, and schools, bridges and roads were damaged

From visit in the affected the host communities to get first-hand information from the field, the communities visited were Kampants where the rebels previously mounted their check points, Bwiam police station and Bujinga who hosted more than 100 ofs of IDPs. FL-2022-000158-HTI Flood Haiti Widespread floods have affected 22 municipalities of North-West, North, North-East and Nippes Departments over the past few days, resulting in an increasing number of casualties. According to the Haitian Civil Protection, five people have died (three in North-West, one in North-East and one in North), and one person is missing in North-West. More than 1,900 people have been evacuated in temporary shelters located in Cap-Haitien and Fort Liberty and 2,581 people have been affected. Access to the worst-hit areas remains difficult due to damaged roads and infrastructure. National authorities, in collaboration with United Nations and international NGOs, are conducting the damage assessment and are providing help for those affected. On 3-4 February, scattered rain is forecast over West, South-East, and Grand-Anse Departments.

EC-2022-000156-MDG Extratropical Cyclone Madagascar Tropical Cyclone Batsirai has intensified and is now moving west/west-south-west at about 19 kilometres an hour (kh/h). Batsirai is expected to pass by Mauritius at the end of the day today, 2 February, and Reunion tomorrow morning, 3 February, according to the latest forecast from Meteo France. Mauritius is experiencing wind and rains, which are expected to gradually improve tomorrow. Reunion has been on orange alert since 6 a.m. on 2 February, and conditions have begun to deteriorate, with gusts exceeding 100km/h on the coast and 120km/h in the highlands, according to Meteo France. Batsirai is expected to make landfall on the east coast of Madagascar—likely between Mananjary and Mahanoro districts— as an Intense Tropical Cyclone at the end of this week. All of the eastern coast of Madagascar has been placed on green alert in anticipation of the cyclone's landfall, which is expected to have a significant impact. 
FL-2022-000155-PAK Flood Pakistan Disaster authorities in Pakistan report that heavy rain has caused damage to homes and triggered landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province from 20 January 2022. At least 8 people have lost their lives as a result. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported heavy rain late on 20 January caused a landslide near Alpuri, capital of Shangla District. 
FL-2022-000154-BRA Flood Brazil Landslides and flooding caused by torrential rains have killed at least 15 people in south-eastern Brazil, officials say. The victims died between Sunday and Tuesday in Minas Gerais state, where rivers have overflowed, leaving towns partially submerged. More than 28,000 people have had to leave their homes.

OT-2022-000152-GHA Other Ghana On 20th January 2022, a large blast occurred in an area at Apiate community, near the city of Bogoso about 300km (180 miles) west of the capital of Ghana, Accra. The explosion occurred when a motorcycle went under a truck carrying explosives that was on route to the gold mine at Bogoso. After the blast, people in the community rushed down to the scene, and a second blast occurred a few minutes later. This resulted to in the destruction of dozens of buildings. 
AC-2022-000151-PER Tech. Disaster Peru The Government of Peru has formally declared an environmental emergency following a 15 January oil spill at a Repsol-owned refinery near the Ventanilla district to the north of the Lima metropolitan region. The spill, estimated to be of about 6,000 barrels, has affected more than 700 hectares of water and 180 hectares of coastline, and with currents pushing the oil north, it continues to cause more environmental damage and threatens the health and livelihoods of nearby coastal communities.

ST-2022-000138-MDG SEVERE LOCAL STORM Madagascar Starting on 17 January 2022, torrential rains leading to new floods were observed in the Analamanga region with, 8 districts of the Grand Tana were affected, and 38 fokontany (communities, the lower administrative level). The meteorological service recorded rainfall of 200.9 mm between 17 January 2022 at 8pm and 18 January at 8am. On 21 January, Provisional damage report indicates 11 people dead; 23, 428 people affected; 114,439 people displaced in 31 accommodation sites; 3, 497 huts/houses flooded; 11 huts/houses destroyed.  
FL-2022-000135-ZMB Flood Zambia Most parts of Zambia started receiving heavy rains on 11th of January 2022. On the 16th of January 2022, Kalomo, Namwala and Choma districts of the Southern Province started experiencing flash floods. According to the needs assessment report issued by the Zambian government through Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) (17th January 2022), Namwala district has recorded the highest number of households affected with 3,219. The report also indicated that 8,000 Ha of field crops have been submerged by water, as well as houses and sanitation facilities. In addition, livestock such as chickens and goats have also been swept away. Currently, 500 households have been displaced and being accommodated in schools and the immediate needs includes safe and clean water, hygiene and sanitation, food, Non-Food Items, shelter and protection. A total of 4 wards in Namwala have been affected: Nakamboma, Mbeza, Chitongo and Mandondo. 
DR-2022-000112-TZA Drought Tanzania The ongoing drought has caused the severe lack of water and pastures for livestock in Semi-Arid regions especially Manyara (Simanjiro, Kiteto and Mbulu Distict councils), Arusha (Longido, Ngorongoro and Monduli councils), Kilimanjaro (Same and Mwanga Dc), Tanga (Handeni and Mkinga DC). The death of livestock and deteriorating livestock health will result in food insecurity and affect livelihood.  
EQ-2022-000108-JPN Earthquake Japan An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 rattled southwestern and western Japan early Saturday, leaving more than 10 injured amid strong shaking but no tsunami waves were triggered, the weather agency and local authorities said. 
ST-2022-000088-MOZ SEVERE LOCAL STORM Mozambique The National Meteorological Institute (INAM) in Mozambique sent a notice on 16 January 2022 alerting to the possible formation of a tropical cyclone due to the high temperatures of the surface water in the Southeast Indian Ocean and Mozambican Channel with a low-pressure atmosphere. The National Delegation of Hydraulic Resources Management (DNGRH) issued a flood risk alert on 18 January 2022 for increased rainfall starting 25 January and a flood risk for the Zambeze, Buzi, Pungoé, Licungo, Ligonha, Meluli, Montepuez, Messalo, and Megaruma river basins as well as the coastal areas of Zambézia, Nampula, and Cabo Delgado Provinces.

TC-2022-000007-FJI Tropical Cyclone Fiji Tropical Disturbance TD03F intensified into a Tropical Depression on 8 January 2022 and into a category 1 Tropical Cyclone CODY on 10 January 2022 bringing significant rain which affected the whole of Fiji. The high level of precipitation that has occurred over the Fiji group in the last seven days has been significant, making most of the area water-logged and highly susceptible to flooding. Significant flooding in the West, Central and Northern parts of Fiji has occurred, landslides have been reported, flooding is starting to recede in some areas, but in others water levels remain due to the saturation of the land. 
FL-2022-000006-IDN Flood Indonesia Heavy rainfall and strong winds have been affecting parts of Indonesia over the past few days, causing floods, triggering landslides and leading to damage. Floods and landslides caused by heavy rain have been reported across eastern Papua Province (Indonesia), leading to at least six fatalities and 500 displaced people, as reported by media. One of the most affected areas by floods include Jayapura City, as several houses, public buildings and a hospital have been damaged by floodwaters. 
TS-2022-000005-PER Tsunami Peru Police in Peru say two people have died after being swept away by high waves believed to have been caused by Saturday's huge volcanic eruption in the South Pacific nation of Tonga. Police say the two women had been visiting a beach in the northern region of Lambayeque on Saturday.

Flood,Nepal: GLOF (Glacial lake outburst flood): After an avalanche fell in Birendra Lake in the Manaslu area of Gorkha, the water flowing from there took the form of a flood.

Flood,Kyrgyzstan: It was reported in Osh region due to mudslides, the press service of the Presidential Representation in the region reports. Such a decision was made at a meeting of the headquarters. Head of the region Elchibek Jatanov expressed concern about the situation and emphasized the need for coordinated actions of all structures.

Flood,Somalia: Heavy rainfall has been affecting Somalia since 19 April, causing floods, flash floods and river overflow that resulted in casualties and damage. According to UN OCHA, as of 22 April, four people died, of whom three in Somaliland (northern Somalia) and one in Hirshabelle State (south-central Somalia), 804 people have been displaced, 100 shelters have been destroyed and a school have been damaged across Somalia. Humanitarian partners are stepping up response across the country. For the next 24 hours, more rainfall is expected over north-western and south-western parts of Somalia.

Flood,China, People's Republic: Four people were killed and 10 others remain missing after continuous heavy rainfall hit many parts of Guangdong Province in south China since 18 April 2024, local authorities said on 22 April 2024. The recent heavy rainfall has affected many cities including Shaoguan, Guangzhou, Heyuan, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Meizhou and Huizhou, resulting in damaged houses, blocked roads and landslides. Guangdong has so far relocated some 110,000 residents.

Volcano,Indonesia: Ruang volcano, located on Ruang Island (part of Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi Province), increased its volcanic activity on 16-17 April with explosions and emission of volcanic ash and lava. The worst hit areas are Pumpente Village and Pathology Village in Tagulandang District (Sitaro Islands Regency, North Sulawesi Province). According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), 828 people have been displaced, of whom 45 are in one evacuation centre and 783 are in the homes of relatives. National and local authorities are providing assistance for those affected and established an Emergency Response Status for 14 days starting from April 16. The level of the volcano has been raised from II to III, people cannot enter in the area radius of 4 km from the centre of the active crater.

Flash Flood,Afghanistan: Since early April 2024, Afghanistan has been experiencing heavy rainfall which has caused flash floods in at least eight provinces: Badghis, Helmand, Herat, Kabul, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Parwan, and Urozgan. According to reports from Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) branches, the flooding has led to the loss of at least 24 lives, left dozens of people injured, damaged more than 1,000 houses, washed away over 25,000 acres of crops and agricultural land, and killed at least 220 livestock. The province of Urozgan is most impacted, with 2,119 families affected in 5 districts (70 in Chinarto, 300 in Chora, 624 in Dehrawood, 350 in Gaizaab, and 775 in Tirinkot). According to initial reports, 11 people have lost their lives, 5 people have been injured, and 3 people are missing in the province.
