Comments: | The country experienced an outbreak of the Avian Influenza virus (H5N1) in poultry that made Cambodia one of the first countries in the region to experience such an outbreak. On 14 December 2003, most of the birds died the following two weeks in Phnom Penh. In 2005, there was 4 cases of human H5N1 found and among those there were 4 dead cases (3 female and 1 male) in Kampot province. First on 30 January at Kampong Trach district, second on 22 March at Bantey Meas district, third on 7 April at Kampong Trach district, and fourth on 19 April at Bantey Meas district. In 2006, there was 2 cases of human H5N1 found and among those there were 2 dead cases (1 female and 1 male). First on 21 March at Kong Pisey district in Kampong Speu, second on 5 April at Mesang district in Prey Veng. On 5 April 2007, 1 dead case (female) in Kampong Cham. In 2008 in Kandal and 2009 in Kampong Cham provinces, had no dead cases. In 2010, 1 dead case (male) at Kampong Leav district in Prey Veng province. H5N1 had 10 cases of Human found and among those there were 8 deaths (5 female and 3 male) for 6 years. But Avian Influenza outbreak in poultry in 2004 in Cambodia 7 provinces: Takeo, Prey Veng, Kampong Cham, Kampot, Siem Reap, Kandal and plus municipality of Phnom Penh for 7 years. |
