The Low Pressure Area east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar in the Philippines developed into a Tropical Depression and was locally named "CARINA" (Nida) on 29 July. (Gov't of Philippines, 1 Aug 2016) Tropical Cyclone Nida is now heading towards southern China, and is approximately 294 NM east-southwest of Hong Kong. (Pacific Disaster Center, 1 Aug 2016)
