| Comments: | The clashes of 8 December 2021 in the town of Kousseri, capital of the Logone and Chari department, marked a new escalation of intercommunity violence. The overall toll was more than 20 deaths, hundreds of injuries (including gender-based sexual violence (GBV)), as well as significant material damage such as traders' stocks, houses and their contents completely burnt down, property and livestock looted, as well as partially destroyed markets. This crisis has resulted in the displacement of more than 80,000 people towards Chad and more than 15,000 people in the southern localities of Logone and Chari (11,500 people) and Diamaré (3,500 people). |
