On 7 July, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. PNG time (UTC+10) there was an eruption of volcanic ash at Mt Bagana in Autonomous Region of Bougainville, reaching 52,500 - 59,100 ft (16 - 18 km). As of 18 July, ash fall has been reported in all 12 Wards within the Torokina Local-level Government (LLG) of Central Bougainville district, affecting an estimated total population of 8,111 people. Heavy ash fall was also being reported at Ruruvu Ward (approx. 22 km north of Mt Bagana) in the Wakunai LLG, which is also in the Central Bougainville district.
