| Comments: | Exceptionally heavy monsoon rainfall beginning on 19 July 2026 caused severe flooding across Assam State in northeastern India. Rivers overflowed and floodwaters spread rapidly across low-lying areas, with conditions peaking around 27-28 July. As of 28 July, approximately 1.14 million people had been affected across 25 districts, 77 revenue circles and 2,185 villages. Nearly 30,000 people were evacuated, and more than 71,000 sought shelter in relief camps. The floods fully damaged 1,368 houses, partially damaged 11,066 houses and inundated more than 74,450 hectares of cropland, causing significant disruption to livelihoods, essential services and transport infrastructure. |
