A magnitude 5.8 earthquake occurred in Tajikistan, followed by two more earthquakes. According to The US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 09:24 local time on April 13, was at a depth of 12.6 km, 25 km east of the regional center of Rasht.
The earthquake destroyed 29 houses and one school building. The Rasht district suffered the most. According to the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of Tajikistan, the wall of a house collapsed there. A three-year-old child was killed under the rubble.
