Rescue and relief operations are continuing in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyawady Region, after heavy rainfall and river erosion caused a section of the Ngawun River embankment to collapse on the night of 30 July. The breach led to flooding in five urban wards of Laymyethna, major roads in the town area and 45 surrounding villages.
