Comments: Guinea-Bissau declared its first mpox outbreak on 4 July 2026 following confirmation of the country's first case. As of 23 August, 58 suspected cases had been reported, including ten laboratory-confirmed cases and no deaths. Most confirmed cases were recorded in the Autonomous Sector of Bissau, with one case in Biombo Region. The absence of clear epidemiological links between cases indicated possible undetected community transmission. National health authorities, supported by WHO, UNICEF and partners, are conducting surveillance, contact monitoring, testing, case management and community awareness activities.
